Official Caloosa Tournament Series Rules

WADE FISHING IS ALLOWED

  • At least one team member must remain in the boat
  • Tournament boats may not run their big motor while they have waders in the water
  • Waders must remain within 100 yards of their boat
  • Pictures and culling of fish must take place inside their boat
  • Wade fisherman must land their own fish

The Caloosa Tournament Series may be a televised tournament. All participants agree to make their boat and team available to cameramen and camera boats during the entirety of any Caloosa Tournament Series Event. All anglers are required to sign a release prior to participating in any Caloosa Tournament Series Event if in fact filming does occur.

WEIGH-IN BY 5:00pm

  • Teams must be in the weigh-in line by 5:00pm. Any team arriving after will not qualify.
  • All teams whether in the Hooters Redfish Bonanza or not; must be in the weigh station lineup in order to qualify. Every team will have a team picture taken.
  • No weighing of fish will be done before 3:00pm and every team must weigh in by boat.

The official and final rules will be announced at the Captains Meeting the first night of each tournament. All Anglers are responsible for having knowledge of the tournament rules and Florida State Fishing Laws.

The Caloosa Catch & Release is an inshore tournament. All weighing will be done by the Caloosa Tournament Series' official weigh master Bob Wasno. Winners will be determined by their highest total weight of two Redfish caught per day for the Caloosa Catch and Release as a 2 day event or 1 day for the Summer Slam and Grand Championship. In order to be eligible for the Grand Championship you must fish in either (or both) the Caloosa Catch and Release or the Summer Slam and weigh in a minimum of one fish.

ELIGIBLE SPECIES: Redfish and a mystery fish will be announced at the Captains meeting prior to the first day of fishing for each event.

SCORING PROCEDURES

  • Catch fish with minimum measurement requirements based on slot Redfish and FWC regulations.
  • Place nose of fish on "0" inch mark of the measuring board.
  • Place the belly of the fish against the back of the board, spine facing out.
  • Score cards must be signed by 1 team member after final weights are recorded by an official Caloosa Tournament Series staff member.

TOURNAMENT HOURS

Tournament Check-in is from 6:00 AM-8:00 AM. All Teams must check in each morning between these hours at the marina. Tournament will be an honor start with lines in the water at 7:00am. Official tournament end time is 5:00 PM. All teams must be in the weigh-in line at the weigh station by 5:00pm. No fishing once in weigh-in line.

TACKLE REQUIREMENTS

The Caloosa Catch & Release is an inshore tournament. All fish must be caught with rod & reel, hook & line. Fish caught by any other means do not count as a tournament fish. Line test is angler's choice. No line restriction. Baits: fly, live bait, natural baits, and artificial lures are allowed.

TOURNAMENT RULES

No lines are allowed in water from 9:00 PM the evening of the Captains Rules Meeting, and time between call of lines out of water and lines in water after first day of fishing. This includes "bait fishing", such as Ladyfish. No passing of anything from boat to boat during tournament hours. (7:00 AM -5:00 PM daily) All boats must stay 50 feet away from other vessels, with the exception of pass fishing, breakdown or emergency. Holding of fishing holes or chumming of holes by another boat is not allowed. Breaking any of these rules is strictly prohibited. Any team or team member breaking any of these rules will result in disqualification for the whole team, and possibly for the entire Caloosa Tournament Series.

HOOTERS REDFISH BONANZA- Special entry of $200 per team

40-40-20 Split for the Caloosa Catch and Release as a two day tournament. The heaviest Redfish for day one wins 40% of the money, heaviest Redfish for day two wins 40% of the money and the team with the heaviest two Redfish combined between day one and two wins 20% of the money.

For the Summer Slam and the Grand Championship payouts will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams with their heaviest single Redfish.
