November 6-8, 2009

The 2008 Caloosa Grand Championship which was held at the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa on Fort Myers Beach Nov 7th and 8th was a huge success. Beautiful weather and great fishing made for the perfect combination.

Congratulations to first time Caloosa winner's Captain Brad Hurd, Chris Walsh, Kelly Smith and Colleen Quenzel from Quenzel and Associates. Their snook weighed an impressive 12.6 lbs and their red was 5.2 lbs making it a total weight of 17.8 lbs.

The weekend was kicked off in the Hospitality Suite with The Edison providing cocktails, teams checked in, shared some stories and picked up their official tournament gear (fleece jackets, hats etc.) which were put to good use with the cooler weather. In addition we had Budweiser products available, Function water and Culligan water provided throughout the weekend. The dinners were thoroughly enjoyed by all, The Pink Shell out did themselves this time. The weigh station was full throughout the day with media, friends and families waiting for their favorite teams to arrive so they could see their fish.

The 2008 Caloosa Grand Championship was the perfect end to a great year! The move to the Pink Shell has the most critical fisherman impressed. The location couldn’t be more central and the service has been impeccable! The Caloosa staff worked very hard to make small changes based on feedback from anglers. Morning check-in changed to 5am with lines in the water at 7am. The weigh station officially opened at 10am to allow weighing throughout the whole day. Bob Wasno (Official Caloosa Weigh Master) even allowed teams to weigh as many fish throughout the day as teams caught.

This was the final leg in the 2008 Caloosa Calendar.
