Caloosa Catch and Release Event is June 5

The 19th annual Caloosa Catch and Release tournament, presented by Maverick and Yamaha, will be Thursday through Sunday, June 5 to 8, at the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa on Fort Myers Beach.

The tournament series, which consists of The Caloosa Catch & Release, The Back Country Classic, The Summer Slam and The Caloosa Grand Championship, is the largest single site backwater fishing tournament venues in Florida, said Kristi Hurd, event coordinator.

As part of these events, a live and silent auction and raffle hold an integral component of the fund-raising efforts for the Florida Gulf Coast University Athletic Department.

The auction and raffle will be held Friday evening, June 6, at the Pink Shell, where hundreds of anglers, guests, sponsors and the public may enjoy a five-star dinner, including open bar and the opportunity to bid on hundreds of items, Hurd said.

Any donation that can be made toward the raffles and auction will help, she said. A contribution will help the group continue supporting FGCU and several other organizations in Southwest Florida, said one of its organizers, she said.
